- We'll be reading the novel October Sky. This memoir, written by Homer Hickam, is the first of Hickam's Coalwood series, which also includes The Coalwood Way , Sky of Stone and We Are Not Afraid.
- October Sky, originally published as Rocket Boys, is set in Coalwood, West Virginia. Watch the video below to learn about this town.

The Mosquito Coast by Paul Theroux. 
- We will view this movie on Thursday and Friday.
- As you view this film, compare and contrast the husband / wife relationship of Allie Fox (Harrison Ford) and Mother Fox (Helen Mirren) to Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Also, examine the father / son relationship in this movie.
- The main character Allie Fox (Harrison Ford) takes his family in pursuit of his own dream or "personal legend."  Do the other members of the Fox family share this dream? What are the results of this adventure for these characters?
