- Review the questions  and write the quiz on The Late Man” on p. 98 of Tigers of the SnowThe Late Man is a modern, surrealist short story. Surreal means unreal or dreamlike.When finished, start reading The Painted Door” on p. 47 and work on the vocabulary and questions. There will also be a 14 mark open-book quiz on Monday.

- Review questions and write quiz on  "Two Fishermen."
- Read "The Late Man" on p. 98 of Tigers of the Snow.  If you are confused by this story, read an explanation written by the author, Andreas Schroeder.
- Review and quiz on Friday.

Wed. Mar. 26
- Review questions and write quiz on "The Firing Squad."
- Read "Two Fishermen" on p. 89 of Tigers of the Snow. 
- Review and quiz on Thursday. 


Tues. Mar. 25

- Classes will work in the library today. Complete any unfinished essays or overdue assignments listed on your interim report. Finish reading The Alchemist and return the book to me after it has been scanned. If you've completed all tasks, take time to read whatever you like in the library and look for materials you'd like to sign out over spring break. Have a wonderful holiday!

Thurs. Mar. 13 - Peer Editing
Today, we'll review the purpose of peer editing and practice editing first draft essays / paragraphs from other classes.

Wed. Mar. 12 - The Alchemist     The Alchemist audiobook 
- Read the press release announcing the plan to produce The Alchemist movie. Note the style of this type of promotional writing. Although this press release was published in 2008, the production of the movie has not been completed.
Assignment: Imagine that the movie has been completed and is ready for release on the big screen. Write a new press release announcement for the movie opening. Edit the press release template after copying and pasting the text into another word processor.  This assignment is worth 10 marks; see the criteria:

- Write your final (4th) paragraph for peer editing: Do you agree that "to realize one's Personal Legend is a person's only real obligation" (Coelho 22)?
 - Complete the debriefing activity sheet. Complete other overdue assignments.
