Sept. 9 - 13: Media Literacy Unit

In-class essay on Wed. Sept. 11 (essay 30 / outline 10)
DUE Mon. Sept. 16: Typed 5 entry annotated bibliography (40 marks) 
DUE Fri. Sept. 20: Crossword on Media Fraud (10 marks)
Homework: Information form (6 marks)

Thurs. Sept. 12 / Fri. Sept. 13
- Lab time is booked for Thursday (Lab 120) and Friday (Lab 2)
- Carefully type your annotated bibliography assignment (40 marks).
---Title, alphabetical order, double space, MLA hanging indent, formal style, 4-6 sentence summaries, present tense verbs, complete sentences, describes content and states how it's useful.
- Use extra time to finish writing in-class essay.

- 20 min. of silent reading.
- Discuss topic of in-class essay for tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 11.
- Today, complete essay outline, which can be used tomorrow while writing the essay.
   - Malicious media awareness: Start work on the Fraud Crossword using the RCMP Student Fraud Guide.
- Media privacy: View video on Facebook photo facial recognition capabilities.



Mon.Sept. 9
- 20 min. of silent self-directed reading.
- Finish work on the rough copy of the annotated bibliography assignment.
- Old media focus: Travel media - Write annotated bibliography entries for one sample of travel media.
- TED Talks Video: Eli Pariser on Internet filter bubbles narrowing our world view.
