- Review the elements of fiction.

- Review the student reading preferences survey results.  On the reading preferences analysis sheet, complete the chart for The Alchemist and write a paragraph that reports and analyses some of the interesting findings about student reading preferences (6 marks).

- Read to page 21 (* on page). Search for answers to the questions.

Tues. Sept. 25 - The Alchemist

DUE today - Media Celebrity Investigation chart and ques. (p. 8 and 9)  
- Media Unit Conclusion: View and discuss the video "Paul McCartney Protests Seal Hunt."
- Read article " Big Name Celebs Irk Canadian Government."
- List Pros and Cons of celebrity activism.
- Discuss:  Media Celebrity Activism: Altruism or Self-Promotion?
- Meet author Paulo Coelho. As you read his novel and learn more about him, decide whether he fits into the category of celebrity.

- Read to the introduction (complete ques. 1-4) and read the prologue (take notes).
